Dr. John W. Boudreau is a Professor and Research Director at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and Center for Effective Organizations. He is recognized worldwide for breakthrough research on the bridge between superior human capital, talent and sustainable competitive advantage. Dr. Boudreau consults and conducts executive development with companies worldwide that seek to maximize their employees’ effectiveness by discovering the specific strategic bottom-line impact of superior people and human capital strategies.
Dr. Boudreau has published more than 60 books and articles, including Retooling HR: Using Proven Business Tools to Make Better Decisions about Talent, (Harvard Business, 2010) and Beyond HR: The New Science of Human Capital, with Peter M. Ramstad (Harvard Business, 2007), Short Introduction to Strategic Human Resources with Wayne Cascio (Cambridge University Press, 2012), Transformative HR, with Ravin Jesuthasan (John Wiley and Sons, 2011), Effective Human Resource Management: A Global Analysis, with Edward Lawler (Stanford University Press, 2012), and Investing in People, with Wayne F. Cascio, now in its second edition (Pearson, 2011).
Dr. Boudreau’s large-scale research studies and focused field research addresses the future of the global HR profession, HR measurement and analytics, decision-based HR, executive mobility, HR information systems and organizational staffing and development. His scholarly research is published in Management Science, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Asia-Pacific Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Relations, Industrial Relations, and Journal of Human Resources Costing and Accounting. Features on his work have appeared in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Fast Company and Business Week, among others.
He was the first Visiting Director of Sun Microsystems’ unique Research and Development Laboratory for Human Capital. He co-authored a best-selling textbook on human resource management that reached its eight edition including Chinese, Czech, Spanish and other translations. His research received the Academy of Management’s Organizational Behavior New Concept and Human Resource Scholarly Contribution awards. He received the 2009 Chairman’s Award from the International Association for Human Resources Information Management (IHRIM) for lifetime achievement in human resource information management. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and American Psychological Association.
The recipient of the General Mills Award for teaching innovations at Cornell University, Dr. Boudreau founded the Central Europe Human Resource Education Initiative, connecting American HR professionals and academic researchers with faculty and students in the Czech and Slovak Republics. A strong proponent of corporate/academic partnerships, Dr. Boudreau helped to establish and then directed the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS), at Cornell University, where he was a professor for over 20 years, before his current position as Research Director for the Center for Effective Organizations, at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Boudreau holds an undergraduate degree in business from New Mexico State University, and a Masters degree in management and Ph.D. in industrial relations from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management.

He previously co-led the design of Ontario’s Emergency Department Performance Improvement Program (ED-PIP) and led the team of coaches that supported this structured Lean program across 90 hospitals.

Prior to joining KPMG, Gordon co-founded HIO Group, a boutique consultancy which focused exclusively on Lean process improvement in healthcare and was also a leader of McKinsey & Company’s Service Operations practice.

Hélène Campbell is the young woman behind what is now known as the Hélène Effect: making things happen through the power of her magnetic personality, her unbridled enthusiasm, her limitless optimism, her passion and iron will. Hélène is also a very grateful and feisty double lung transplant recipient.

Having always loved connecting with people, her journey through disease, surgery and recovery launched her into the spotlight as she harnessed the power of social media and imprinted herself into the hearts and minds of Canadians and people all over the world. Her continued advocacy for the cause of organ and tissue donation triggered an unprecedented rise in registration to donor lists in Canada and the USA.

Hélène has caught the attention of leaders and celebrities across Canada and abroad, and she is continuing to be recognized for her courage, strength and incredible spirit. Her passion for the cause dear to her – organ and tissue donation – and the ideals and principles she lives by – be grateful, live passionately and seek out those with tenacity – have made her a sought after speaker. Jim Rice is the Director of the Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project. Prior to joining MSH, Dr. Rice served as an Executive Vice President in the Governance and Executive Compensation practice of Integrated Healthcare Strategies, where he focused on strategic governance of tax-exempt health sector organizations and integrated care systems for leadership development of physicians and medical groups. Working with over a 100 such organizations, Dr. Rice has frequently been designing and implementing Governance Enhancement strategies for integrated delivery health systems all over the world. He is a frequent speaker and adviser to hospitals and health systems on leadership programs on effective planning and delivery of transitional initiatives. He serves as vice chairman of The Governance Institute, dedicated to research and education for health system boards and leadership teams. Jennifer Wilson is past Chair of St. Joseph’s Hospital, a part of the Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Jennifer has been involved on the hospital boards of the Health Alliance since 1998.
Additional current board involvement includes Vice Chair of the YMCAs across Southwestern Ontario and a Director for YMCA Canada. As well, Jennifer serves as a trustee on the Canadian Advisory Council for the independent school Neuchatel Junior College.
Jennifer and her husband Jeff are owner operators of a fifth generation family cash crop and vegetable farm and she is the owner employee of Thompson Ltd., a third generation agri service business.

Jennifer obtained her Bachelor of Arts Honours degree from the University of Western Ontario, and a Class 5 Advanced Agriculture Leadership Program from the University of Guelph.
