Health Regulatory Colleges of Ontario

This session features a dynamic panel discussion among representatives from various health regulatory
colleges in Ontario. Learn how interprofessional collaboration is taking place at the regulatory level with the
goal of optimizing health human resources and improving safe, quality patient care. Strategies to strengthen
the relationships among health regulatory colleges as well as practitioners will also be explored.

Health Information Management

This session is chaired by Gail Crook, CEO and Registrar of the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and covers topics of Workforce Transformation. The webcast includes:

Paul D. Swinwood, President and CEO of the Information and Communication Technology Council speaking on Standards and Certification in Workforce Transformation.

A presentation entitled “Transformation of Epic Proportions: What will it take to enhance the Largest Canadian Health care Workforce?” is be presented by David S. Diamond, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Alberta Health Services.

And Rose Dunn, Interim CEO at the American Health Information Management Association speaking on HIM Workforce Transformation.

InterProfessional Care

Evidence shows that working collaboratively in health care is essential for good clinical outcomes and underpins the need to understand how best to develop a work force that can work together effectively. This session  discusses how the Caseload Management Tool can help support human resource planning while enhancing quality services and best practices.

Accreditation Canada

Maximizing the benefit of the accreditation experience comes in many forms. Learn from Barry McLellan, CEO, Sunnybrook Hospital, how an academic, acute care facility took full advantage of accreditation to impact its safety and quality agenda. Ken Deane, Supervisor for Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital and former Assistant Deputy Minister for the Ontario Ministry of Health, will share how accreditation is being used to assist this community-based organization to achieve its quality and safety objectives. Discover what Accreditation Canada has learned from clients and surveyors with the evaluation of the Qmentum Accreditation Program and how lessons will lead to refinements including a fresh approach to accreditation decision levels.

Nursing Leadership

This presentation is titled "Journey toward a New Courage Code”. Using Joseph Campbell’s monomythic theory of the journey of the archetypal hero found in world mythologies as a backdrop, this talk will describe the many phases of courage development in leadership and challenges the current ‘courage code’ we have all been socialized to conform to.

I Shall Not Hate - Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish

Known as “The Gaza Doctor,” Izzeldin Abuelaish is the author of the bestselling book “I Shall Not Hate”, which chronicles his life growing up in Gaza and the development of his outlook on life and peace in Israel and Palestine.
