HealthAchieve – A Green Event

Zero Waste Event

Given the large volumes of waste a show our size can produce, we are doing our part for a cleaner, healthier environment by holding a “zero waste event” – practically eliminating waste from going to a landfill site following our show.

The event, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, which, along with Turtle Island Recycling, works with HealthAchieve to reach Zero Waste status through proper waste collection, recycling and disposal.

HealthAchieve recognizes the environmental benefits of going “green” and are doing our best to be good corporate citizens.

Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care

This year, as in years past, HealthAchieve will be working in partnership with the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care to ensure that this event, which has grown to be one of the largest and most respected health care events in North America, remains an environmentally responsible and zero waste event.

Green Lane

One of HealthAchieve’s main attractions is its “Green Lane”, the area of the exhibit floor dedicated to vendors who provide environmentally-friendly products and services to health care organizations.  To exhibit in Green Lane, vendors must first be approved by the Green Health Care Committee, comprised of select members from the Canadian Coalition of Green Health Care and others in the health care sector who are actively involved in the greening of our health care system.

Venture Green

A related initiative to this is “Venture Green”, a program highlighting companies that may not qualify for Green Lane, but nonetheless are Committee-approved as providing unique green products and services.

Green Health Care Educational Session

From an educational perspective, HealthAchieve’s Green Health Care Session has year-over-year showcased key players from the industry and attracted large audiences who gather to hear speakers such as musician and environmental advocate Sarah Harmer, author and CBC journalist Evan Solomon, and Laurel Broten, former Ontario Minister of the Environment.

Green Health Care Awards

A further highlight to the educational session is the Green Health Care Awards, which are presented in recognition of health care facilities who have shown their commitment to creating a more sustainable, greener health care system. The awards recognize excellence in four categories: Energy Efficiency, Pollution Prevention, Waste Management, Overall Leadership and Individual Leadership.
